Master’s Project Formal Documents
About the Documents
Creating a successful master’s project at Syracuse University relied on formal and detailed documentation of the project’s execution from beginning to end. Included in this page is the original project proposal, inspirations for coverage throughout the games, the Master’s Defense document, and the Capturing Gold Photo Processing Guide.
Proposal
The original project proposal was brought to faculty members at Syracuse University, requiring approval of the project before it’s launch. Highlights from the proposal include the original plan, approach, and goals of the project. Learn more from the original project proposal below.
Inspirations
Capturing Gold would not have been possible without the resources that were gathered to create the Capturing Gold Photo Processing Guide and providing photographers inspiration for types of imagery they can look to get at Lake Placid. Some of the content featured in the document include works from Al Bello, Alexander Hassenstein, Dustin Satloff, Elsa Garrison, Patrick Smith, and more from different wire agencies.
Defense Document
The defense document from Capturing Gold. The document details the process of discovering the project, preparing for the expedition, executing the plans, and reflecting on important details from the event.
Photo Processing Guide
The Master Workflow document served as an essential resource to aid in coverage throughout the games. Taught initially during the sports photography workshop, students used the guide as a fallback tool to refer to event and venue codes, filenaming conventions, and editing requirements before filing images to the photo desk.
