DECA Students Develop Trident Filters
DECA Students Develop Trident Filters

Bowling Green HS’s Sean O’Donnell and Jake Stucker pose for a photo in Jerome Library with a drawing of their product on February 6, 2019.

The students utilized the Jerome Library’s resources at Bowling Green State University to help develop a product to compete at DECA’s national championships that eventually saw full incubation to develop the product at BGSU’s The Hatch in 2020. The team’s product is an agricultural filter that attaches to ditch drainages and field tile outlets. This device will filter pollutants from runoff before they enter bodies of water, such as Lake Erie, and cause complications, such as the 2014 Toledo water crisis.

A BGSU student and their parent walk towards Kreischer Hall during early move out on March 17, 2020. The coronavirus pandemic first started during the week of spring break, where President Dr. Rodney K. Rogers announced that spring break would be extended for two weeks to help prevent the spread of the disease. Less than 48 hours after students were sent home for Spring Break, the preventative measures escalated to allowing students to move out voluntarily early over the break and take classes from home - to fully cancelling classes and mandating all students to fully move out.
